The Hermit of Warkworth (book release early autumn)

It is a dramatic tale written in the style of a poetic ballad. It’s a comfortable read and is a story that takes in star crossed love, battles between Northumbrians and Scots, the kidnapping and rescue of a maiden followed by a great tragedy which is narrated by our Hermit of Warkworth. Despite the interplay of high drama and tragedy the story has a positive resolution.

The wonderful illustrations within the book are by a brilliant wood engraver and author of natural history books Thomas Bewick who’s home is a National Trust property open to the public near Stocksfield in Northumberland.
